i'm having trouble voting in the poll

Oh? The poll does seem to be working.

You know, it IS your blog, but I have to say the design's getting rather cluttered. It'd be a lot easier to just have all those photos of your "cast" in one post, rather than clogging up the place.

Just an idea.

Why the sudden blog updates.

You been banned from OG or something?

sparacus said...

The blog needed a revamp.I feel that I have not devoted enough time to it in the past or fully developed its potential.

sparacus said...

The pictures and videos are about creating a multi-media convergence point. Cutting edge cyber-20 somethings like to multi-task.

Anonymous said...

Well... that's as maybe. But even leaving aside the fact no "cutting edge cyber-20-somethings" would be seen dead on this blog, it is an untidy display and unpleasing to the eye.

For a start, you could try and make the "cast photos" the same size, and some of the "suggestions" can easily be turned into posts.

I will be back posting on the Doctor Who Forum next week after I have completed work on this blog.

If you like my warehouse, why not sample its wares. Few complain.

I may turn the cast photos into a proper flick through gallery eventually.
The DVD recommendations are where they are because people expect to see adds when flicking through a magazine etc and they add colour and variety to the blog.

This is a joke isn't it? THAT THREAD WAS LOCKED SPARA BECAUSE YOU'RE SICK!

Johnstone, can someone explain what the hell is going on? Apparently there's been some kind of massacre on OG with half of the Spara-readers banned, and now Spara is hosting "blog-only" stuff... It's as bewildering as the new blog layout...

Its a bit confussing all of this...

All I know is, the Ghosts of Weatherfield thred on TDWF was completly deleted and some of the members have been banned :(

It may have somethuing to do with an argument about peranting, im not sure, and the mods arent really saying much.

But atlest the story will continue hear :)

Which ones?

It may have somethuing to do with an argument about peranting, im not sure, and the mods arent really saying much.
Well, have they been asked?

But atlest the story will continue hear :)
Yes, that makes it all worthwhile...

YOA, I've no idea as I'm currently banned for something else. This is all what I've been told outside the forum.

Spara has aired his views on how children should be handled. Naturally it's snobbish and sycophantic. Total bullshit as always. Quite a few people have really had a go at him, he's bloody lucky I wasn't on or I'd have really lost it. But yeah, some kind of massacre is the best way to put it.

Oh and Spara, I think you should change "Setting the standards" to "Shitting on the standards"

sparacus said...

To shed some light on the situation:

I expressed some opinions regarding social issues and the discipline of youngsters. Several posters agreed and posted similar views. A discussion then followed which became out of hand. A fair few posters disagreed strongly .
It all became rather personal so the moderators have understandably stepped in . I am currently under a compulsory rest period from posting.

The aim of this blog is to reflect the best in Doctor Who related fiction and other cultural themes.

sparacus said...

In retrospect my original posts and that particular issue were too inflammatory for the Doctor Who Forum. I will confine that issue to this blog.
I am also thinking of making this the home for my fan fiction as too often I'm having to worry about people taking offence at some comment of Ben's or other and conflict arising.

Scyther Slitheen said...

I hate the fact that all this has happend because of an agument that had nothing to do with the story :(

And its sad that its happend on what is the best BC story ive read, it must have been an extreamally bad argument and one that should have been stoped when it started :(

I hope you do still post some storys on TDWF Spara, all you will need to do is make them a little less offensive. You could always do an edited one :)

Tevs said...

Basically, on the Ghosts of Whatever it is thread, Spara said that all you need to do in order to be a parent is "praise the kid when he does good and smack him when he does bad".

Me and several other members got offended at this statement, many of us having actually gone through having to take care of a child and got offended.

An arugment started and many people got banned, including me who's now banned for two more days till I'm allowed to log in again.

I'm quite surprised that this got so harshly dealt with. While I respect the mods who banned and deleted the thread, I'm sure that worse stuff has gone on in Ben Chatham before hand.

Nevertheless, this might be the end of BC on DWF is it's going to be blog only from now on, and if we're allowed back onto the forum afterwards (something which I'm really looking forward to) then there's no real harm done (Sorry if anyone has been permently banned and finds that last remark quite bitter :))

Crap. You expressed your beliefs on parenting which were completey wrong, we argued against you, the mods saw this and banned us, deleted the thread (as far as I can gather) and you're not under a compulsory rest period, you're banned along with the rest of us.

Just a question, who is banned? I am, Johnstone is (though he's response implied that he's banned for something completely different), who else is. I'm just wondering.

Brenda Pid, I think. We did start debating it in the Lord of Reedy River thread, but those comments have been deleted too, now...

They banned you?!

What the hell is wrong with the mods? Banning is only for the more extreme cases. Like me. God, how can I have a superiority complex if they just ban ANYONE?!

Spara has aired his views on how children should be handled. Naturally it's snobbish and sycophantic. Total bullshit as always.
Like the one on the blog? Did he tell you he sometimes smacks his students as well? THAT was a nugget of info that set me off, way back ago...

Quite a few people have really had a go at him, he's bloody lucky I wasn't on or I'd have really lost it. But yeah, some kind of massacre is the best way to put it.
I should set up some kind of encounter group. Getting the "You have been banned for the following reason" screen is not a nice experience...

Sparacus: I am currently under a compulsory rest period from posting.

Oh, give over, Spara! That's like "spending more time with the family". You've been banned - fair enough. I'm hardly likely to think LESS of you. In fact, I dare say people will start to quit the forum now you're not there...

As for people I've heard are banned (be it temporary or permanent)

Johnstone
Evans-t
Fugitive
Leonard Hatred
Sparacus
Lemon Bloody Cola (that's his name, apparently, not an oath on my part)

As you all can appreciate, I can't simply log on and check.

sparacus said...

Clearly this is a debate which the forum moderators over there will not allow to continue. I for one am saying nothing more on the issue.

Johnstone McGuckian said...

Spara. Just admit you've lost this one!

Although I must stress that I'm not banned due to Spara. Some prick called Spaceship titanic got me banned. I took the bastard down with me so it's not that bad.

sparacus said...

"Like the one on the blog? Did he tell you he sometimes smacks his students as well? THAT was a nugget of info that set me off, way back ago..."

Although I must correct this. Anything along these lines that I've said has been said in jest. Obviously I'd never 'smack' my students - for one thing I'd rightly get the boot and for another at their age they'd probably belt me one back.

Youth of Australia said...

Well, that is what I thought, which is why, at the time I posted "You're joking, right?"

You replied, "this is a serious topic and we should not be immature and humorous about it". And then you said "Anyway, moving on."

Then of course, you write these stories were lots of young girls are brutally slaughtered in back alleys and their eyes are ripped out and children set on fire...

People start to talk.

Obviously I'd never 'smack' my students - for one thing I'd rightly get the boot and for another at their age they'd probably belt me one back.
Yep, human beings fight back. Amazing.

Johnstone McGuckian said...

Spara, are you capable of talking nicley about anyone under the age of 20?

sparacus said...

"Spara, are you capable of talking nicley about anyone under the age of 20?"

Yes I am. I am not ageist or youngist.

sparacus said...

"Then of course, you write these stories were lots of young girls are brutally slaughtered in back alleys and their eyes are ripped out and children set on fire.."

It is horror drama fiction. Nobody accuses Stephen King of being a violent man just because he writes horror books.

Johnstone McGuckian said...

Stephen King is a writer and there is actually a plot behind the blood and gore.

Tevs said...

Spara said: "Yes I am. I am not ageist or youngist."

You obviously are, that's the reason why we all got banned in the first place!

Youth of Australia said...

"It is horror drama fiction. Nobody accuses Stephen King of being a violent man just because he writes horror books."

No, but then he doesn't write innumerable stories where the violence is solely focussed on young women and children, and then has the main character dismiss their deaths and unimportant, before date raping the nearest young man claiming to be from Oxford.

Also, Stephen King can actually "write".

The most generous would say you can "briefly describe".

"I am not ageist or youngist."
So what was the point of the "we must give children healthy fear" and "cutting edge cyber-20s" stuff about?

BTW, the van driver was not interested.

Blimey, am I the only person who HASN'T been banned from DWF?

It's all gone quiet on the spara front, nobody talks about him (well, everyone who read his stories bar MLock and myself are banned!) and there's been no outcry (except from Lemon Bloody Cola, which might be why he's been banned too!)

Sorry spara, but I think you've always overestimated your popularity!

Bernie Fishnotes said...

Do you think we shoud refer to these events as "The Spara-Cull"?

Youth of Australia said...

The Massacre of Sparacus' Ghosts of Weatherfield Thread's Eve? There's even Ben being mistaken for a local bastard which goes nowhere, and a completely unsatisfying final sequence...

Jimmy Barnes said...

Bernie, I bet my ban was longer than everyone elses. Oh, the shame.

See you all on Saturday "folks".

Johnstone McGuckian said...

Back on now and I'm going to avoid Spara threads as I don't want to be banned again. Although if we all ignore spara threads...
